 What are the steps to port my number?

Follow these steps to successfully port your number to Twilio (and use it with Telfon):

  1. Submit a Porting Request

    • Log in to your Twilio Console 

    • Click on Phone Numbers > Port & Host > Port in request

  2. Keep Your Current Provider Account Active

    • Do not cancel your existing service until the port is complete.

  3. Twilio’s Carrier Partner Will Contact Your Current Provider

    • They will handle the process of transferring your number.

  4. Wait for Approval or Rejection

    • You’ll receive a notification.

    • Common reasons for rejection: incorrect account details or an unauthorized Letter of Authorization (LOA).

  5. Pre-Configure Your Number in Twilio

    • Once approved, log in to your Twilio Console and configure routing settings before the porting date.

  6. Complete the Port and Disconnect from Your Old Provider

    • After the port is successful, you can safely remove the number from your old service provider.
